A detail from one of the 'retablos' (the area behind the altar in the apse usually decorated with polychromed & gilt wood carving but sometimes also incorporating frescos) of what I thought an especially sensitive sculptor though there was more top quality work in the churches of Santiago than most I've seen in Spain. I'm not sure because I can't place it in my memory banks but I think I recognise the composition from a painting, 17th century Low-lands? Do you recognise it? My camera's battery charger died a sudden death & many of the shots were taken with my mobile 'phone which struggled in low light...
