I don't know what this scene represents but aside from appreciating the naif but dramatic, kinetic & expressive figures & composition, I thought the king was hilarious! If you look closely you can see he is sitting on a chair though the sculptor's skills didn't include the insight into perspective to show us the foreshortening that would make it convincing. He looks to me instead, to either be dancing an effeminate step or reprimanding his murderous swordsman for splashing him with the saint's blood!
