Pierre Auguste Renoir, born
1841, was struck down with rheumatoid arthritis in his late fifties
& worked for much of the following 20 years with brushes tied to
the hands no longer capable of extending fingers. The picture to the
left was painted while he was young, his early experience as a fine
china painter- clearly evident. The one below long after his arthritis
left him bound to a wheelchair. |
